Abbey Julian, PhD

About Me

I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Emory University. My PhD is in Computer Science and Informatics from Emory (2024), and I have a Bachelor's in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Spanish from Vanderbilt University (2019). My dissertation research, which was supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, worked on efficient optimization and hyperparameter tuning for distortion correction in Echo-Planar MRI under the mentorship of Dr. Lars Ruthotto. These days I am focused on teaching and pedagogy, especially concerning AI and introductory programming. I am also the faculty advisor for M||E Competitive Programming.
