The First Normal Form (1NF)

• Definition of 1NF ("first normal form")

  • A relation is in 1NF (first normal form) if:

    Every attribute of the relation has atomic values

    Note:

    The relation model requires that attribute value must be atomic !!! See: click here

    So every relation is trivially in 1NF because by definition ( click here), attribute values in a relation must be atomic !!!
