Trying out Data Definition commands of SQL

If you want to try out the data definition commands (e.g., creat table, alter table, insert, ect) of SQL, you can do the following:

1. Log in to a lab machine 2. Run this command: mysql -h holland -u student -p Passwd: (I will tell you in class or send me email) 3. mySQL>> use student

Now you can create tables, insert into tables, etc into the student database

Doing SQL projects
- It is not required to install mySQL software to do the CS377 SQL project
  You can simply ssh to lab0z.mathcs.emory.edu gateway and then ssh to a lab machine and do the work there.
- You only need to install the mySQL software on this webpage if you want the mySQL software (which is free !!!) for your laptop
